For the first time, Creative Design Space members represented Fullerton College at the IIDA So-Cal’s Haunt Couture 2021. CDS members Alyssa Martinez (teamed with Studio W Architects) and Tracy Rowe Mutz (teamed with NAC Architecture) had a blast creating haute couture fashion from unconventional design material swatches including fabric, tile, laminate, acoustic material, and wallpaper samples.
Teams randomly selected an influential artist as a design inspiration, then used the next 7 hours to design, sew, glue, tack, or otherwise construct a runway-worthy haute couture design. Alyssa and Studio W pulled Pablo Picasso as design inspiration, and Tracy and NAC Architecture pulled Salvador Dali. Teams were also required to submit a video introduction of their process, select catwalk music, and choose a team member to model their creation.
The Haunt Couture 2021 fashion show, awards ceremony and after-party were held in Hollywood, CA, where designers, architectural firms, and industry sponsors gathered to enjoy and celebrate the joint creative effort!
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to CDS member Alyssa Martinez and her team from Studio W for their FIRST PLACE win with fashion inspired by Picasso!
Thank you, Alyssa and Tracy!!! We are so proud to have you represent the IIDA Fullerton College!
